I was curious to know what states may be more accepting and offer support. Because I want to move sometime soon and I would like to live in a place that is free of discrimination or at least mostly. What states or countries offer support for LGBTQ+ families?
Canada's pretty good!
We have Human Rights Laws protecting our gender identity and expression. In fact, any verbally abusive or physical act is punishable under our Criminal Code. It sure helps me get out of my house! I've never had a problem here. I think most Canadians don't care how one identifies themselves.
However...
Here's a resource showing current anti-trans and anti-lgbtq+ bills in various U.S. States. Just scroll a bit to see the map:

Good luck!

Having a sense of what protections are in place across the country is good information. However, like anything else, there are inconsistencies. There are states with a decided conservative bent, but there a clearly pockets of centrist to liberal political leanings and acceptance for LGBT people. The converse is also true.
Many tend to think of California as a very liberal state. However, it isn’t as liberal as you might think. In 2017, Lisa Middleton was elected to Palm Springs City Council. That made her the first transgender person to be elected in California to a non-judicial position. In 2021, due to the way we rotate council members for the appointing of mayors, she became the first openly transgender mayor in California. Some of the very conservative members of US Congress from California include: Jay Obernolte, Ken Calvert, Darryl Issa and Kevin McCarthy, to name a few. They are not in favor of banning assault weapons, pro-choice, marriage equality nor any support of trans people and trans youth.
As you can tell, there are Hits and Misses…
Well I been to alotof states I think Washington state is very excepting state we have a community that excepts transgenders
So happy, delighted and very glad to be living in Canada! And now, here in British Columbia, as of 2022,you only have to fill out and submit one form in order to change your gender designation on government ID. It used to take jumping through multitudes of hoops to achieve the same thing.
Hugs,
