Hi everyone
Hope everyone is having a good day.
I thought I would share a story from my youth. With the advent of winter the aim is safety with heating. I was ten years old.
It was a very cold night in February. I was woke up in middle of the night with distress in breathing from smoke. My first thought was that my mom was up early cooking. I opened the window to get some fresh air and went towards the kitchen. I saw that the wall mounted oven was on fire and the fire was spreading quickly to the wall above the oven. I went quickly to my parents bedroom and alerted my father.
He tried to employ a garden hose from outside but everything was frozen. When the fire spread to the ceiling my father said grab whatever and get out; and so we did.
We stood shivering for a few minutes watching the fire spread and then made our way to my grandma's house.
House fires are common in winter so everyone please be careful with heating.
Thank you Rikke for sharing. Sorry you had to experience that kind of event.
