"WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Gallup’s latest update on LGBTQ+ identification finds 9.3% of U.S. adults identifying as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or something other than heterosexual in 2024. This represents an increase of more than a percentage point versus the prior estimate, from 2023. Longer term, the figure has nearly doubled since 2020 and is up from 3.5% in 2012, when Gallup first measured it."

@michellelarsen1 imagine that percentage if those identifying as crossdressers were included.

Thank you Jessica for mentioning this and for including the 2SLGBTQ+ identifier which specifically uses 2S, standing for the Two Spirit Native Peoples of Canada and other countries.  It is commonly referred to as Intersex by non-indigenous people.  I mention this because as an intersex person myself, I, along with others in my community which make up 1.7% of the population are quite concerned with systematic erasure.  This has happened with the quiet dropping of the I in the USA which you used to see as LGBTIQ+ and little by little became LGBT in many printings.  Also quite recently the T has now joined the  erasing trend and I am seeing just LGB.  I am active in the Canadian Intersex organization Egale and Interconnect in the USA and am pleased to see your use of Two Spirit. Thank you, Marg
