I've been thinking about getting a make up consultation at Ulta, but I'm unsure of what the process is like. Has anybody ever done a makeup consultation at Ulta, and what was the process like? How did you prepare for it? How friendly were they? How welcoming are they? Are there any other things that transgender people should know before going there? I'm just looking to get a general feel about how useful getting a makeup consultation there would be and how comfortable it would be. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
Hi Cynthia, I was looking to up my makeup game and so I stopped into an Ulta in Milwaukee to inquire last week. I'm Intersex and am out and open so I said that I need more help with my makeup and was directed to a very nice young woman who specializes in that. I think that each store has someone like her on staff. She gave me her hours and said that we can set up a time or just drop in if she's not busy. She said that there is no charge for what she does but Ulta wants you to buy at least one product first from the store. Then she will help you learn to apply that product and a few others that she has on hand. It sounds like a nice process and I'll take advantage of it the next time I'm passing through Milwaukee. I've never had anything but respect at Ulta when I'm there so I don't think that you would have any worries. I will plan on wearing my woman's business suit when I go since I give Intersex Presentations around the country and that is when I want to look my best. However, I don't think that it matters what you wear when you go. I hope this helps. Safe Journey, Marg
I have had a few makeovers at Sephora but none at Ulta. My first time, i was dressed and just in the store shopping for a few items. Their M/U person was answering my product questions and she suggested i consider a makeover. We both seem to have some time, so we did it right there. It was an nearly an hour later when i left. only having a year or so since i started trying to wear M removed link I had a lot to learn. I couldn't think of a better way to learn than from a tutor. Ive since had a few more sessions but made appointments for these. You don't have to have a full makeover, you can just go for a mini session for something like just your eyes. Hiring a consultant is no doubt the quickest and best way to elevate my skill set.
