Hi all, I’m curious on if anyone is going through the VA to get their HRT prescriptions. I have no insurance since retiring, and been slacking on registering for the VA, but have seen that it is available. Is it worth going through them?

@doodlebug

I have no personal experience with the VA.  But I think it's hit or miss in some places.  I know a gal on CDH that's trying to get HRT thru her VA hospital in rural Washington State.  Unfortunately they didn't even have a LGBTQ coordinator.  Last I heard she was ready to give up and try Planned Parenthood.  I think the bigger cities are a better bet.

Yes, but each VA and state seems a little different on how they provide service.  Start here; removed link and speak with your lgbt coordinator.   Also there is a Reddit group, r removed link  Some places your primary dr will provide, so via endo clinic and others via community care.

Oops links got removed.  Look for LGBT Coordinator on VA website to find your local, they will direct you as needed and give you the availed service there.  Some will provide wigs, gaffs etc kind of prosthetics.  For Reddit search transvatransveterans for the community.
