* How long have you felt this way

* Was there a trigger

* What have you done to express / confirm your gender

* Who have you told

* What was their reaction and how did that make you feel

* What sort of relationships are you in

* How supportive are those relationships

* How much do you know about transisioning in general

* What do you know about HRT

* What is your end goal

* What do you think HRT will do for you

* How is your mental state, history

* What obstacles do you envisage in your journey

* Are you out in public / work

Additionally they are unlikely to enquire after your desire for surgery however the subject may come up - be honest.

Finally dress well and be well groomed for your appointment. Arrive on time and be polite. Don't take offence at any question and remain  calm as much as possible.

Good Luck,

MistressB

Interesting, is this from experience? I must admit these are some of the questions I have asked myself too. At least I already have the answers to hand should I ever need them 😊

@sashabennett I'm a clinician and I sat down with some of my colleagues that specialise in gender affirmation and we came up with these.

@mistressb Well I guess that makes you the perfect person for the job. I always believed that you can get the most from a career if you really throw yourself into it & there can't be many who can claim that much first hand knowledge. It must be a very fulfilling job.

It has been a very rewarding career that is finally coming to an end. My wife finishes uni next year and we intend to travel. Although I will miss it, considerably.
