Hey there. My name is Joy, I'm a horrifically depressed 20 year old trans woman. Ironic, huh? I thought making an account here and making friends would would make me feel better and I hope I'm right.

Joy:

Yes, support and friendship from others is always an important thing. It’s great to be able to count on others to listen and not judge. I suppose it is part of what makes us human.

Are you seeing a therapist for your depression? If not, I would definitely encourage that as it is a difficult situation to work through by yourself.

Be Well,

DeeAnn

Yes, I've been seeing a therapist for some time now. She's really helped me, and the depression is better than before, but it's still prevalent. Thank you for the advice though, still.

Good!

The reason I said what I did was that it seems to me that too many trans people “suffer in silence” before they find a site like this, a local support group or whatever. Also, many have confidentiality worries and that may prevent folks from finding resources that can help. And as I’ve said in the past, if someone outs you it is VERY difficult to get the narrative back and tell your story your way.

So, I’m glad that your trajectory is pointed upwards. The rate of progress always changes, but the important thing is that the progress continues.

For me, one thing that is important is to occasionally look back and compare where you are now compared to some point in the past. Incremental progress can be hard to spot sometimes, but over a number of months it can definitely be a Feel Good!
