Over time, MANY here have gone through the issue of wondering about their gender identity. As a group of people, we suppress this as there a lot of external pressure on us to conform, or behave as we are expected to behave. Often we just can't do that without a devastating cost to our mental stability.

Many trans people have been helped by working with a therapist. The idea is to help you understand the situation and how to go forward. They will not solve it for you as that is of no help. However, if you do this, it is important to find a person who is experienced in gender issues as every therapist does not have this experience or interest. Psychology Today magazine maintains a searchable database on their web site of therapists around the country with brief in introductory information.
