I'm a 56y.o. recently post-op trans-woman. I'd really like to hear from some of the older trans-women that are post-op, or familiar with the challenges of post-op care. Add to that that I am also recently homeless and living in an overflow shelter, so post-op care is difficult.

Other than that....I'm a Unicorn!

I love all types of music (except RAP) love reading fantasy and sci-fi

I'm an Anthropology major @ B.U.

and I Love Art.

@victoriacenedra Hi love, in October I will be 3 years postop. Dilating would have to be the biggest issue I had to overcome as initially you are really excited to finally be in a place where that part of your body matches your brain. However six months later it starts to really become a "task". I had some dehisiance which wasn't the greatest however now things have really settled down and enjoying the fruits of my labour sort of speak. Each Dr has a different dilation schedule mine was 3 times a day for a month, twice a day for 3 months, once a day for another 3 months, then once a fortnight for another 3, then monthly for life unless you are getting regular PIV sex.

I had PPT GRS and was lucky to be blessed with excellent sensation and some lubrication. In fact for the first 6 months I was excessively wet, but now that has settled down. Happy for you to AMA. Hope you find accommodation soon.

@mistressb

I also had a PPT at Beth Israel Deaconess Transgender Center in Boston. I've been on 3x a day now since February. I'm on the last size, and was told I could lessen when there is minimal resistance. Sensation and moisture are good, but... Have you experienced any issues with a light discharge? I've been having to constantly use panty liners, the Dr. said that would lessen once I can cut back on dilatation. I sure hope so!

I have my first consult for facial feminization this October.

Hoping to get some work done over the winter, so I'm ready next summer 😎

@victoriacenedra Yes, discharge is fairly common untill the PH settles and the flora establishes. I don't recommend frequent douching,  as it upsets the PH. Panty liners are a necessity as are regular showers and changes of underwear.

Hey Victoria, welcome back. Anthropology... Wow, that is a cool subject. Something that has always fascinated me. The how and why did things get from 'there', to 'here'. I do hope and pray your housing situation gets some improvement. While I have a few 'irons in the fire' right now, please PM me and I'll do a little research on what support resources might be in your area. Hugs

@firefly

thank you Gisela, It's great to be back, I  wish that I could recover my old CDH account now. Because I have all the pics from when I first started my transition on that account and I'd love to post them here to add to my story.

best

Vicki

Thank You

Have you had any issues with getting insurance to cover aftercare essentials like lubricant or even syringes for hormones? I've had to jump through so many hoops!

thank you so much for the greeting

Best

Vicki

I didn't have FFS but in the US depending on where you live and the insurance you have it might be covered , if not it will be out of pocket . You can look here for places or doctors in your area Transgender Friendly Places Near Me – Transgender Heaven . We have 1000's and 1000's of places listed covering the globe . There has been a few ladies who have had this done , can check chat and ask there as well .
