Hi! It's great to be here, it's the first q community I've joined. I'm really looking forward to making some good friends here!!
So my little story is that of being 44 when I finally realized what my problem has been my whole life. I think I was born 60% female 40% male, but with male organs.
After being trapped for 40 years inside the mental construct of being a male, I have finally realized why my life has been so unfulfilled and why I have never been able to express myself.
Since realizing I'm actually female, I've felt happier than ever, and I can even see a new smile popping up on my face in the mirror! (I've never had a smile). My voice is finally developing into an expression of myself instead of being stuck in miserable monotone. My whole family is happier because I'm so much happier!
I am set to see a doctor next week to hopefully get started on hormone therapy and I am so very excited!
Thank you to everyone for reading, and have a wonderful day!

Rebecca:
Happy that you found us and I hope being here will be a good experience for you.
Many here have found great benefit from working with a therapist. Due to fears and anxiety, we often find it difficult to stay focused and think about what we need to think about. A therapist will help you work through whatever issues come up. However, it is important to find a therapist who has experience in gender issues. Not everyone has that interest and experience.
I encourage you to complete your Profile page. It's a great way to state how things are for you, what you are thinking about, key learnings, next steps, etc. It also helps others understand your situation.
