Are you connected to the trans community in your area? Isolation is a significant problem in the trans community and it is important to be among peers for support, advice and council. Being in Greater Chicago, I suspect there are groups that you can join and get connected.
I would also suggest looking at Local Places as that may be a starting point.
Also, it helps to complete your Profile page. It allows others to understand your situation better.
