Glad that you found your way here. As time goes on, hopefully it will be a positive experience for your journey.

One thing that you will discover after you have been here a while is that the members cover the spectrum of trans people from questioning their gender identity to having fully transitioned years ago and all points in between. That creates an extraordinary wealth of experiences and information.

So, there are some things that I would suggest:

The first is to encourage you to complete your Profile Page. That goes a long way towards helping us understand what’s going on for new members; what their situation is, where they struggle, etc. If you look at the Profile Pages of some of the Ambassadors and other staff you will get a good idea of what people are doing, what’s going on for them and how they have dealt with difficulties in the past.

Isolation is a significant problem in our community. But, the important thing is what we can do to combat it. I encourage members to seek out the trans community in their areas and get involved. Also, new members will often post a message asking that others contact them. I think a much better approach is to be proactive. In the menu, click on Social and then Member Directory. From there you can search for other members in your area. That’s a great way to get connected and begin to develop a social network. Remember that we Hu-Mans are social creatures!

Also, many here have been helped by seeking professional services. Over time, people have a lot of questions about their gender identity, how to move forward and understand the potential consequences. One point, however, is that the therapist needs to be experienced in gender issues because not everyone has that expertise.
