Hello to all, I am Lee.Β I am nervously excited to be here.Β I am new to this whole thing. I have been curious for far too long. Yet, I am in learning mode β slowly learning. I figure this would be a wonderful place to get started.Β A little back story, I am married, more than 30 year, and I am in my late 50s. I recently told my wife my long hidden desires. I can not say she took it well but we are working through it β trying to make sense of it all.Β I would be willing to chat more about it but I do not want to get into all the details at this time.
Itβs like joining a party but not knowing anyoneβ¦ the awkward moment β but hopefully it will turn out to be a blast!Β Thank you for reading this.

It is very important to remember that what we are talking about is a journey. Think in terms of a marathon and not a sprint. As my grandmother would have put it: Act in haste, repent at your leisure. The thing is that there is the possibility for a great upheaval in our lives between where we are and where we want to be. Anything that has long term consequences requires conscious thought to not only figure out the path forward, but also to become comfortable with it. For either, it is not the work of a minute.
So, there are some things that I suggest:
- One of the reasons that this site exists is to combat a sense of isolation. In addition to being here, do an internet search for transgender resources in your area. Many LGBT centers have support groups and social gatherings, some of which are live but others are offered over ZOOM or other teleconferencing software.
- Many here have found it very helpful to work with a therapist. Our issues are often difficult to consider properly by ourselves, so a therapist can help maintain focus and help figure out the things that require conscious thought. However, if you do this, it is important to find a therapist who is experienced in gender issues. Also, in some cases the partners have also worked with a therapist; sometimes together and sometimes separately.
- It would be helpful if you completed your Profile page as it lets other members understand what your situation is. You can update the page at any time and it will always be readily available.
- You can do a search for members who are close to you. Click on Social in the menu and then Member Directory. Other members may have additional insight into whatβs happening in your area.
Thank you DeeAnn, you are so right in correcting me, for this is a journey.Β I have been wanting to get on this journey for a very long time. But instead, I have spent too long viewing the travel brochures for this journey - wishing and dreaming.

Welcome to TGH, You found us and we are happy to have another family member.
All of our stories and journeys are different, and yet in many ways the same.
I spent many years fighting the truth. And came out last year at 55.
So began one hell of a ride.
I started voice therapy last month and just got my hormone script a few days back. Still waiting for the VA Rx to get it filled and shipped.
I know for me that when I stopped fighting and accepted that the female needed to come out and STAY out.
This last year has been the best year of my life. Yes it has had both it's ups and downs, but that is life.
