I'm very new on my journey to become a woman. I'm looking for friends and mentors in the St. Louis area that can help me with my transition. I'm 31 and have finally decided that I can't hold back how I feel inside anymore. Living depressed and unhappy knowing I will never be who I want has to change. Coming out seems almost impossible but I think will it relieve a huge burden I've placed on myself for years. Coming from the Midwest where I've heard all kinds of derogatory terms used towards the LGBTQ community from fellow employees, friends and even family makes it very tough but I can't live for them anymore. If they choose to be that way maybe they are not worth being around anyway. Any help from anyone in the area would be greatly appreciated. I could really use a coach or mentor as I have no one to confide in and am lost on how to start my journey. Love you all π
<p style="text-align: left;">Hello Mercedes,</p>
I am from Missouri as well, not the St. Louis area, but close to it. I am 3 years into my transition journey as a female to male. I would love to chat with you any time.
Thanks,
Christian
Thanks Christian,
Your support means a lot. I would love to talk to you.
I am new to this site as well so Iβm not really sure how this all works, but feel free to reach out to me anytime.
Happy to chat to someone in the UK?
Hi Mercedes and welcome to TGH!
I curently live in the Midwest as well, SD, and know all about the prevailing attitudes toward folks like us. It is a daunting, ney often terrifying endeavor to begin swimming against that current. You are not alone and there are those who care deeply about you.
Have you considered a counselor/therapist who has experience with the LGBTQ community? That would be a great place to start until you find the love and support that will help you along your journey.
Just a thought
Love to you!
Tami
Welcome to TGH, Mercedes!Β We hope you find our site as helpful as it has for us.
You have already started your journey.Β Self realization and acceptance is the beginning of any persons personal journey in life.Β Hugs for you my sister.
The best advice I got after finally connecting with people at our sister site CrossdresserHeaven was to seek a gender therapist.Β Tips for finding one is a bit broader subject than this reply, but one of our members recently wrote a good article on it at:
https://transgenderheaven.com/whos-your-therapist/
I started my physical transition journey in earnest last January with starting HRT and electrolysis with surgeries on my horizon.Β In the middle I made the decision to begin living my authentic life full time complete with name and gender marker changes. But my path and timeline are mine.Β Yours make look similar or very different,Β but it is yours and nothing could be more beautiful than the blossoming of you.
There are many decisions to be considered and some of them are determined by law, by insurance coverage and your budget or even by the physicians you choose.Β At times and can seem daunting, but with the help of a good therapist and friends you make along your path you can find resources.Β We hope to be a part of that Story of Mercedes.
Hugs, Ambassador Cloe
