So I've been in transition for a few years. I just upped my medication and I find myself struggling with feeling fem. I find myself worndering if I'm too country that it just comes off wrong. I've become very critical of my body. This has put me in a depressive state. Am I alone in this if not that how did you get through it.

Thank you

Demi:

Gender is a bit convoluted. It isn’t like you can pick up a book and a couple of hours later, you’ve got it sorted out. I’d like to say that it works that way, but clearly it does not. However, on the bright side, many here have found it useful to work with a therapist. When we think about our gender identity, or our sexuality, it isn’t easy to consider these things as they have the power to bring about MAJOR changes in our lives. These issues can be wrapped in great fear and worry and that can make it difficult for us to focus on them. A therapist can help to maintain the focus on these issues as we work through them and improve our understanding of what is going on. But, it is important to find a therapist with experience in gender issues as everyone does not have this background or interest.

As a starting point, put the following string into your favorite search engine:

Struggling with you identy is and has always been a problem.Β  When i went on Hormone Replacement and tried my transition i to was unhappy with my body changes and got depressed.Β  I also upped my medications and had a bad reaction to them ..Β  Insomnia and bad dreams when I slept finally had to stop.Β  . I would suggest to you a psych who specializes in Gender Re-assignmentΒ  . Talking you way through it will helpΒ  as it helped me.Β  It does cost some money but you must keep you eye on the goal of total re-assignment . Also it helps to have other sisters to talk to.Β  Let me know if you ever want to talk about it and we canΒ  compare notes.Β  you may write me at [email protected]

Hugs
