Anyone know any research/literature/case law on children finding out a parent is identifying as transgender (after birth) and the affect on relationship? Their well being.
Uk please.
Katie, being from the US, I don't think I would have any info to help. But my suggestion would be to ask any of the transgender support groups in the UK, and a lot of online searches. We would love to hear what you find. Or reach out to some of the other members we have here from the UK..... Michelle
Here are a couple of papers which may be of interest:

"There was no difference between the way in which children viewed the quality of their relationship with their trans parent (<i>M</i> = 32.60, SD = 6.92) and their other parent (<i>M</i> = 30.71, <i>SD</i> = 5.99), as assessed using a paired-sample <i>t</i>-test, <i>t</i>(20) = 1.31, <i>p</i> = .21, <i>d</i> = .29."

"In studies that asked transgender parents about their relationships with their children, the vast majority reported that their relationships are good or positive generally, including after “coming out” as transgender or transitioning."
"Studies on outcomes for children with transgender parents have found no evidence of any effect on a child’s gender identity or sexual orientation development and no evidence of any other impacts on other develop-mental milestones."
