I can't believe it. The music is playing, bands are blazing and I'm getting ready for my gender affirming hormone therapy consultation on the twenty seventh day of this month of this year.
A lot of worry has hit me over the past few weeks, but I'm still looking forward to it. Under all the pressure I have been through, it's time for me to come to my senses and pull for my personal needs and wants.
Fantastic Christina. I'm sure you will be fine. Just be open and honest with yourself and your therapist. I remember when I made that decision to see a therapist. Prior to that I dug through the Virginia Transgender Resource and Referral List to find a therapist in New Market, Va. I knew what was what about who I am, and what I needed to do, and how to do it. Having that up from made a lot of difference. The same for when i saw my endocrinologist. I wish you well, and please reach out to us if you have questions. Michelle
I am SOOOOO happy for you!
Remember the old aviator’s adage: know before you go. Your job is to know you and what you want. The gender therapy folks are there to help YOU reach YOUR goals. For them to help you, you need to know yourself and where you do, and perhaps do not, want to go.
This is just like building a home. You have to have a mental picture of what you want to build. Your GAHT team will help you gather all the materials to be successful with the finished product. The endocrinologist will educate you on the pluses, and the (very real) minuses.
Be open and tell the story that is in you heart. No one will start until you are ready.
Many of us have been there before. I’ll wager that you will remember this day vividly. I truly hope that your memories will place many warm smiles in your mind and heart!
PLEASE keep us informed regarding your adventure!
