From The Pink News:

Former prime minister Liz Truss is sponsoring a bill which seeks to ban trans women from women-only spaces, from competing in women’s sport, and prevents children from transitioning.

Truss, the UK’s shortest-serving prime minister, is sponsoring a backbench bill entitled the Health and Equality Acts (Amendment) Bill – which will potentially be debated by MPs on Friday (15 March) – that will attempt to change the law. A description on the UK parliament website describes it as “a bill to regulate access to hormone therapy for children under the age of 18; to make provision relating to social transition practices in schools and other settings; to make provision regarding the meaning of the protected characteristic of sex; and for connected purposes.”

Former Conservative leader Truss, who was prime minister for less than two months, said the bill will define sex in law as biological and, in her view, end the “absurd and dangerous situation where biological males self-defining as females can access girls’ and women’s toilets and so on – as well as sports competitions”.

that is unfortunate here in the usa we have states that have done the same thing some of the states have also made it harder for adults too get on hormone therapy. Some have made it harder too stay on it. For adults being fully aware of what they want should be able too live their life as they see fit. and on the restroom part it has hit certain states also i lived in one that inacted a restroom law it depended on the business goverment buildings or places it was against the law for a trans person too use the restroom that wasn't appropiate according to the gender that were assigned at birth

I wouldn't worry too much, Truss is a joke. How she  became  PM is a mystery. No one  and I  mean  no one  takes  her  seriously. At the time one  newspaper put up a  photo of a cabbage or some vegetable and predicted it would last  longer than her premiership. They  were right. British humour.

However her ridiculous attitude is  not  unusual. But  luckily the  British in general are  not  bigots. It's  not  Texas or Alabama. She's  left planet Britain  but the  average  Brit has not.

@mariehart That's all true. But the anti-trans campaigners, small minority though they are, are backed by:

  • the Conservative government
  • the Labour so-called opposition
  • much of the Green party
  • almost the entire corporate media which, in the case of the tabloids, is unrelentingly vicious in its hatred for us
  • wealthy individuals such as the transgender-obsessed JK Rowling and many of her acolytes
  • US-funded campaigning organisations such as Women's Place UK and LGB Alliance

So they have plenty of bark and bite.

Maybe but the fact it's Truss advancing this bill means it's unlikely to gain much support.

She also repeated the myth not to say the  downright lie that men are self declaring as women to gain access to women's spaces. That may be believed by extremists but not by most people.

Having just checked I found this: Her bill was filibustered by Parliament and never got a hearing.

It's over.
