One of the things that is never good for trans and gay people is to be outed. It is so important to be able to tell your story, your way. Being outed blows that all to hell and puts one on the defensive. At that point it is extremely difficult to get the narrative back and say what you need to say.

This is all about explaining what you have felt for a very long time. That is the message that needs to be conveyed. This isn’t a spur of the moment thing. It is being able to express your truth. Clearly, our decisions to be authentic may impact those close to us. But, I would hope that they would not wish a lifetime of misery for us.

So, I suggest that you put some conscious thought into what you would say and how you would say it as you never know when the topic might come up or when it might be a good time to initiate the conversation.

Meanwhile, please complete your Profile page. It’s a great way for other members to understand your situation and what is happening for you. All threads eventually sink to the bottom of the pile, but your Profile page will always be readily available and can be updated at any time.

Also, if you would like to search for other members who may be near by, click on Social in the menu and then Member Directory
