My thanks to all who have contributed to this thread! Similar to how transgender people can have any sexuality that cisgender people have, transgender people can have any approach to fashion and style that cisgender people can have. We are not limited to a model of hyperfemininity.
There is also another interesting phenomenon in play. The vast majority of us (speaking of male to female) were reared as males. We did not have the benefit of being mentored by mothers, grandmothers, aunts and older sisters. Many of us dress in a way that seems to be catch-up for those lost years. We seem to be trying to have the adolescence that we missed; in varying degrees, of course. I think some outside of the community believe that this is how instability shows up. Personally, I believe it is merely an attempt to capture some of the feminine fun that we didn’t have.
