In my experience, as an artist, art teacher and study of anthropology…I think there definitely is.
As an art teacher it is common to see female art students (young women) have a preoccupation with certain shapes, designs and colours. It is mostly sub conscious and when the similarity to female genitals is pointed out…the reaction is most often one of horror, disbelief and embarrassment. It is of course perfectly normal and happens every year with every new intake.
Gender signals are sent out too…and vulvic Pink (a recognised colour) is another common….almost universal female signal.
Males favour a purple blue colour…make of that as you will.
I have yet to see an official scientific research on this but I believe it to be true.
