I have been on HRT for 15 months and I will certainly confirm that having the proper level of Estrogen in my system helps considerably with gender dysphoria and a general sense of well being. I am 64 and trans girls of my generation have generally waited to later in life to transition. My parents were very close minded to anyone in the lgbt community. They passed away before I came out so I will not have a problem of their acceptance. So I hope it works out well with your parents.
