Having great supportive friends in my life helped me through my transition.Have been in my life for a long time, male and female. They saw I was struggling inside for a long time with something.Even supported me when I lost my 2 older brothers to a drug overdoses and my dad to suicide in 1997 during my senior year of high school.Told me I needed to figure out what it was.Saw me happy as male and it was the next day after coming out to my mom, they were next. Was at school, got together during our lunch break.Had our lunch and went to a spot with no one around.Looked at them and told them an inner female inside of me wanted out wanting to transition.Hugged me and said they are going to be there for me.Luckily it never got out and no problems. They watched me becoming much happier and it was in April of 1997 when it all started after telling them I was put on the estrogen and male hormone blockers.Saw a much happier person come out and also seeing the changes. They remember seeing the changes as well and feeling it.One was feeling my skin getting softer and my breasts developing. The biggest change was when they said goodbye to the old me in my 5th month of my transition meeting Cassie for the first time.I remember them calling me Cassie for the first time and knew my old male life was dead not coming back. When it came time to decide on having the GRS in 2000,said they would support my decision knowing it is my body and choice. When I chose not have this done, supported it and we are still good friends to this day. They don’t miss the old me,love and accept the current me knowing my life is better

Cassie, that is great news. Human beings need social interaction with others. So that is a big part in helping us get by each and every day. Enjoy your friends, and grow and experience new days with them. Michelle

My female friends were a big help with shopping for my new wardrobe.Showed me what they liked wearing. One of them,Sarah got me into the shoes and she is a shoeaholic like me getting me into it.My friends say I am still the same person but much happier as Cassie now.
