Hello, I wanted to introduce myself and say hello. My name is Jessica, I realized I was trans at 22, but I wasn’t able to come out until last year. For 11 yrs I wasn’t able to be myself, now I’m looking forward to starting my transition.

Are you connected to any trans groups in your area? It is a great way to get to know other trans people and to combat isolation. Many LGBT centers around the country implemented online support and social groups, due to the pandemic, but they found that it is also a help in general for those with transportation or scheduling issues.

It would be helpful if you completed your Profile page as it allows other members to understand you and your situation better.

Also, you can search for other members in your area by clicking on Social in the menu and then Member Directory.

Thanks, I’m not really connected to any groups or centers in my area. I know of one, but with work, my schedule makes going there to meet them next to impossible.

They do some, I signed up for there newsletter. Just don’t have the time to go to them sadly.

Well,  be sure to keep that in mind if something changes. From my experience and observation, we don’t really understand the value of being able to spend time with our peers until we can actually do it.

You may have read this in one of my other messages, but I participate in a women’s chat group on Thursday mornings. It runs for 90 minutes. It is hosted by the LGBTQ Community Center which is based in Palm Springs. I joined 4 years ago when we were meeting in person. We’ve been online only for about 3 years now and I don’t if we will ever go back.

Anyway, we have women call in from the Central Coast, Las Vegas, Nebraska, West Virginia and Michigan, as well as local women. For one reason or another, they want to maintain contact with the women’s community here. Some have a 2nd home here or vacation here frequently or are considering moving here after retirement. Works for me!

Neat, wouldn’t mind talking with others. Getting a time would and is my current issue. Otherwise I’d go to the events the local center has.

Hi Jessica. Good to meet you. I didn’t realize I was trans until about 5 years ago myself.  I think it’s really hard discovering your trans so late in life.  Really hard to make that change.
