Hello, I’m Amy, and have been on CDH for over two years, and just decided to join this site. I see many topics asking the question, “Am I trans”. I kind of have no idea. Weird sounding I suppose.

I recognize some of the names here from CDH, so maybe some will remember me too.

I am a long time crossdresser, but I feel drawn closer and closer to the thought of being a woman. Though like a some, I have never felt I was trapped in the wrong body all these years, but I feel a sense of wholeness and completeness when I am dressed up. Not just dressed but when I get fully dressed up for a while then a feeling of peace and happiness floods over me.

I hope you do not mind me here, perhaps you feel I’m “only” a crossdresser, but it is not simply a hobby or something like that, as I started about 12, and have dressed on and off throughout my life.

Lots to more to say, but I will leave it at that for now.

    Amy

      Amy:

Glad that you found us and I hope it will be a very good experience for you.

I will ask that you do not use the phrase “only a crossdresser”. That implies that there is some sort of hierarchy at work, but there isn’t. Sadly, it works to create unnecessary divisions in the community when used by those who have transitioned.

Some some, dressing does seem to open the door to considering ones gender identity. I suspect that it was for me, but I also suspect that it is a relatively small subset of those who dress; my opinion anyway. Many here are in a similar situation where they are trying to figure out where their gender identity truly sits. It is not a simple exercise to do this and many enlist the help of therapists who are experienced in gender issues.

There was a time when people thought that having dysphoria was a prerequisite for being transgender. However, in more recent times, mental health professionals have come to the conclusion that this isn’t the case. What they have realized is that there are a number of other ways to be, such as non-binary (which is where I fit in), gender fluid, agender, etc.

I see that you are from Brantford. A bit over 20 years ago I made several visits there to Eagle Precision Technologies. They did some development work for us and we purchased some of their machinery. Small World! We have a search utility if you want to look for other members in Ontario. Click on Social in the menu and then Member Directory. That will put you at the search utility.

It would be helpful if you would complete your Profile page. It is an excellent way for people to understand your situation, your plans and your progress. You can also edit it at any time as situations change, whereas regular posts are not editable shortly after submitted.

Hi Amy – nice to see you here too! I’m a recent convert from CDH as well, as I start to realize more and more that this is who I am (or really want to be…).

      Cheers!

      Lexi

      Hi Amy,

Welcome! Like you, I do not feel a lot of dysphoria, I feel like my female inner self has me by the hand and is pulling me into the future. I have not fully transitioned, but when I dress, I feel that life is so much more meaningful. Hope to see you around the site!

Amy, if we ever judge here, it would only if we have a suggestion on trying a different hairstyle, or maybe a different style or color of skirt to go with that blouse, or a different nail color… But never what some needs, or desires. We are all in this journey together, and we do everything we can to help out. And there are a lot of people here that are members of both site. You are welcome here. Hugs, Michelle
