new MTF transitioning

Hi, I’m Jamie. I’m almost 68 yrs old, married for almost 50 yrs, retired 3 yrs now. I finally got the courage to come out to my wife last week that I’m growing breasts and transitioning to female.                    ( I have an “A” cup now ). She doesn’t understand, but accepts it. I’ve been on a MTF herbal program from TransformationsLabs for about 3 months now.

Hello Jamie, my name is also Jamie. I am a 64 year old MTF trans girl living in Dallas. I started my transition three years ago. I tried some herbal hormones for a year and they did nothing for me so I finally went through the process of seeing a gender therapist and getting HRT therapy. I have been on HRT for 15 months and went from 44A to 44D.

I am still working full time and after three years of trying to compromise with my wife over my transition she has finally indicated that she needs to divorce. It is both good and bad. Bad in that a 23 year marriage is over but good that I can live as myself without her constant criticism about my wearing female clothes.

Hi Jamie,

My name is Jackie and I started transitioning when I was 64. Like you I have been married a long time.

Firstly be careful with the herbs as they are stronger than you may realise. You should find a specialist (endocrinologist) to help you. I am sure one of the US members will advise you on that.

Initially my wife was understanding about it. I tried to take things slowly and bring her along with me but it became more difficult for her. We separated for a while but we got back together again. The process she went through was akin to grieving and eventually she was able to accept me as female. As you know as a marriage matures companionship and love become far more important than the physical side. Now we are back together my wife is my biggest advocate.

I wish you all the best on your journey and hope that your marriage survives (lots do) but please get medical advise and monitoring soon.

That’s great news. Glad you two got back together. You’re right, My wife and I haven’t had sex for about 15 years due to her poor health. I’ve had to take care of my needs on my own. You can see some of my messed up life on ” Newarts” forum. I’m Mac67 there. I just posted pics of my first clothing I’ve ordered there. I plan to see a doctor early next year. I have to search for a trans friendly one in central Illinois around Bloomington hopefully.
