In addition to here, I am on various transgender related sections of social media platforms such as Reddit, Facebook, etc. From time to time, there are folks doing doctoral research and other studies aimed at the transgender community. I encourage the members here to check into the studies and to participate if you are satisfied of their legitimacy. Typically it has been hard to get funding for studies as many are not interested in learning about our community. Also, it is very easy to dismiss us when there is a lack of data.
Over the past 6 years I have participated in a number of surveys for doctoral work, for commercial studies and for non-profits. I have yet to learn of any security issues with any of the studies. Obviously, there is always some degree of risk, but the people doing the studies realize that if information were leaked, it would be virtually impossible to find participants in the future.
Beyond doctoral work, there is a professional organization that conducts studies for clients and also does their own surveys for the LGBTQ community and are LGBTQ owned: Community Marketing & Insights (https://cmi.info/). They also maintain a panel of LGBTQ participants in order to easily connect with those who would be appropriate for a given study. Their own studies can be downloaded for free on topics such as the LGBTQ community, tourism and hospitality, social issues and business and finance.
