Who here participates in trans organizations or holds an office in one?

    Why or Why Not?

Hi DeeAnn, My Radio presenting is purely voluntarily, The Station runs on a not-for-profit basis so i guess it complies with your criteria!! Actually, its fun and more importantly, serves our community and gives people pleasure xx , hugs, Fiona xx

      Very Good!

Recently there was a thread here about whether or not the trans community should align itself with the LGB community. Some felt that we should go our own way and not be aligned with the LGB community. I posted the names of a number of trans organizations at the national, state and city levels. It is very difficult to get some useful numbers from surveys here, but it would surprise me if there were anything greater than minimal participation in general. Anyway, just curious as to what kind of responses would pop up.

      Thanks and Be Well,

      DeeAnn

Perhaps a bit more definition might have been helpful. Basically I was thinking about non-profit organizations where one volunteers. In other words, it is separate from ones occupation. These could be service organizations, political organizations and advocacy groups. Typically these would be outside of usual work hours and activities.

In your case, likely the only thing is whether or not doing your radio program is a job.

To me, visibility is a key part of transgender politics and advocacy. So, what I was trying to get at was if people are supporting the community. I understand that it is a not uncommon opinion that people “just want to live their lives” and a valid one. However, that tends not to have much influence on moving the community forward.

Anyway, thanks for your response and Best Wishes for your program!

Hi DeeAnn, it depends what you mean by organizations. I am a Radio Presenter at a Radio station in the UK serving the Transgender community and have done for nearly a year, so maybe that counts? , hugs, Fiona Moss xx
