Trans*itions Health and Wellness is the only trans* specific health and wellness program in Orange County. Trans*itions exists to help guide the trans* community, and their families, throughout their transition, along with providing education and resources to allied businesses and community members. The LGBTQ Center OC was established as a volunteer organization in 1971 and incorporated in 1975 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit community-based organization. We are one of the oldest gay and lesbian community centers in the United States. In the early 1980’s, AIDS was devastating the LGBTQ community by financial ruin and ending many lives too early. Concerned individuals began buying and distributing food to people from the trunks of their cars. The effort grew to become what we now know as Martha’s Pantry. Our clients have the opportunity to choose from lists of food and additional household items, such as: A variety of personal hygiene and toiletry items. Paper and plastic goods. NAMI Minnesota (National Alliance on Mental Illness) is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children and adults with mental illnesses and their families. For over 40 years, NAMI Minnesota has worked to promote the development of community mental health programs and services, change public attitudes about mental illnesses, improve access to services and increase opportunities for recovery. NAMI Minnesota champions justice, dignity, and respect for all people affected by mental illnesses. It is the 7th largest such community center in the nation, in a state notoriously hostile to transgender individuals. The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Network operates Long Island’s four community centers for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community: in Suffolk, The Center at Hauppauge; and on the East End, The Hamptons LGBT Center, as well as the Queens LGBT Community Center (Q-Center) in Long Island City.
