Minnesota Roller Derby is a skater-owned, flat-track roller derby team in St. Paul, Minnesota. The league was founded in 2004 by the Donnelly sisters as Minnesota RollerGirls during the re-birth of modern roller derby that started in Austin, Texas. As one of the founding members of the WFTDA (Women’s Flat Track Roller Derby Association), Minnesota was among the first teams to have a public game, and was the first to have a home in a professional venue. We have been proud to call the Legendary Roy Wilkins Auditorium our home for practices and games since 2005.
Minnesota Roller Derby is committed to empowerment for women, non-binary, and gender-expansive folks. In 2019, we updated our name and logo to reflect our commitment to athleticism and inclusivity. We provide a challenging and rewarding space to build community and give back. All of our league members are volunteers who not only skate and officiate, but also run the business. We plan games, train our up-and-coming skaters, print marketing materials and merchandise, and partner with our friends and sponsors in the community to keep our league running. We also run a recreational program for adult skaters looking to grow their skills and try out for the league, as well as juniors team for all kids 11-17.
