COLORS Community Center is an inclusive advocacy and social service organization actively working to meet the needs for safety, empowerment, education, and wellbeing of Northeast Florida’s LGBTQIA+ community. Our vision is to be the community center in Jacksonville where adults who identify as LGBTQIA+ can safely be themselves and access resources, without judgement or discrimination, at times when most other agencies are closed. The LGBTQ Center is committed to advocacy, equality, community, and support for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning and allied students, faculty, staff, the Jacksonville community & surrounding areas. At UNF, the LGBTQ Center contributes to student retention, success, and graduation through programs and services that create a sense of belonging and inclusion. Students who participate in Center programs leave UNF with a deeper understanding of, and confidence in, their own skills and gifts, an ability to effectively engage with people in a diverse society, and a commitment to serving the greater good. Hamburger Mary’s is an open-air bar and grille for open-minded people, serving a full menu of tasty items. The original Hamburger Mary’s was a funky, friendly dive put together on a shoe-string budget. The Jacksonville Area Gender Society is a non-sexual support and social organization for the Transgendered and their partners. We offer support through communications, understanding, social activities and interaction with other like persons.
