      Re-write

The code is written, the hardware built
A life riddled with shame and guilt
Not what she wants, not what she needs
Change my body, she begs and pleads
But the code is written, the hardware built, too much heat, the flower doth wilt
It’s not all there, it just isn’t fair
Nature’s mistake, sad girl does make
The code is written, the hardware installed, a joyous day she cannot recall
The story long, the ending near, something must change, there’s no more fear
She wakes one morning and without warning, she decides to fight and completely re-write

Kimberly, being a retired engineer of many hats, I have often pondered the similarities between humans and computers. All our body parts are similar in nature to the hardware bits and pieces of a computer. And all that stuff we have in our brains to make all this ‘hardware’ work, is very much akin to the code running on your computer. So your poem very much adds the rhyme to the reason for my Michelle 2.0 computer getting through each day. Hugs, Michelle
