Something I’m struggling with right now is being myself. Around my friends and family, I’m scared to be me. I’ve played a role of someone who I thought was likable for such a long time that I’m scared to be myself, especially in public and dress or act the way I want to.

I know exactly how you feel. I’ve spend my entire life trying to be someone I thought other people would like, or what I was “supposed to be.” It took years of therapy to even get to the point that I realized that’s what was going on! I’m better know, but when it comes to going public with my transition to family and friends…well, I’m not ready for that yet.

Hopefully you can at least take some comfort in knowing you’re not alone!

Daisy, I love reading what you all post in the Forums. It gives be time to pause and reflect and think…. Sounds like a bit of a quandary…. So, you can’t be yourself in your current environment, but if you can’t be yourself, then how do you know who yourself is….. Interesting. However, I bet you know who you believe you should be. So, I thought of an interesting though game. When in the environment where Daisy cannot shine, think about how Daisy would act. And then think of how Daisy’s reaction would be accepted. Over time, you can build a model of Daisy, adjusting it as you go, until you find a Daisy that can be accepted. Once accepted, you can grow Daisy to be the real you. I kinda like that…. I think I will try that too. So Daisy, thank you for the suggestion. Michelle
