Atlanta Gender Explorations, known as AGE by our members and friends, is an open gender support group. This means that there are no special requirements for membership except that you or a loved one are exploring a significant gender issue in your life. We are open to people who identify as cross-dresser, transsexual, transgender, drag artist, androgyne, bi-gendered, female-to-male, male-to-female, and those who embrace no specific gender label. The Atlanta Pride Committee is Georgia’s oldest non-profit agency serving the LGBTQ community and serves as an advocate of, and resource to, gender and sexually diverse communities in Atlanta and the Southeastern United States. Available 24/7 to offer support, advocacy and education to anyone who has experienced or used family or domestic violence (physical, psychological, emotional, sexual or financial). Family violence relates to abuse by any family member, current partner or ex-partner (male or female), a partner’s children or other household members. All of our Family Support Workers are trained in issues related to lesbian visibility, homophobia and heterosexism and a gender analysis of family violence underpins our philosophy and educational model. This program is designed to help TG/GV people learn about themselves and how to deal with the discontinuity between their hearts and the mirror, and the thoughts and feelings they experience.
