Hi, I am Heather, I am a 46 year-old transgender woman.

I joined CDH back in 2019 and found it very helpful as I explored who I am. I kept telling myself  “I am definitely not trans, definitely not trans…” But at some point I realized that I actually am.

This summer I came out to my family and friends and started medical transition while dipping my toes into social transition. I am taking things slow, but trying not to let things stall.

I am fortunate that the public healthcare system here is very supportive of transgender individuals, I simply self referred to a transgender health specialist and after two visits and some baseline blood work I had started HRT under proper medical supervision. I’ll soon be attending my 3 month appointment.

Not sure how active I’ll be on here as I have found a wonderful and supportive trans community locally. but I’ll probably drop in on occasion.

You found us! Very Good! I hope being here will be everything that you hoped.

Very happy that you have a local community. Too many trans people are isolated from one another and that isn’t a good thing. It is difficult enough being transgender, but combining that with being isolated is not good at all. Plus, humans are social creatures. When we are denied that, it isn’t healthy.

I encourage you to complete your Profile page. It helps others to understand your situation better. Plus, it will always be readily available and can be updated any time.
