Are you one of those people, like me, who hears voices in their head from time to time?

The voices I hear speak the loudest whenever I try to expand myself in some way.

Like when I wanted to learn how to paint seascapes in acrylic paints, the voice in my head started immediately jabbering on saying things like; you don’t have enough money for that, people will probably laugh at the paintings - you do realize the phrase 'starving artist' came about for a reason right?

My in-head voice has a very well rehearsed set of statements, most often of the negative type and an amazing way of making stuff up when there is not “real” evidence to work with from past events or imagined futures.

The inner critics I have heard will do their utmost best to convince me that I am not enough. They would talk down to me, calling me awful names while steadily chipping away at what little self esteem I had at the time.

The voices got so loud for a while that I began to forget that they are just voices;

They are not 'me', not who I AM

The voices we hear are like pre-recorded messages that fit-together pieces of thoughts we use to form other messages. the voices are almost always about making you feel smaller and less significant than you already feel.

The point once more, we are not the voices in our head - we may 'hear' the voices, but we are NOT the voices.

They are simply a series of messages

Thoughts and beliefs recorded in our early childhood, and stored in our brain to become automatic responses to situations, people and events.

'If it wasn’t for bad luck, I wouldn’t have any luck at all' - was one message I heard often as a youngster. We all know that the key to learning anything is Repetition, so, after several of my younger years passed hearing this message repeated, with strong emotions in my environment, my brain accepted it as a truth and self-created a program that would ever more repeat that message, so that “I” would never forget it.

This happens in much the same way we learn how to use a spoon.

Watch any little child learning to eat with a spoon, and learn

Their movements with a spoon in hand for the first few times are jerky, messy, and uncertain until they master the life skills of getting the food, by way of the spoon, into their mouth. Eventually, eating with a spoon becomes second nature and as automatic as blinking.

We hear, record, and replay these, among many other self-limiting and self-destructive messages, throughout our lifetime. Unintentionally and unconsciously,

They became our default program

And operate in the background on autopilot in a continuous shuffle-play pattern.

The quickest and most effective method I know of for silencing these negative voices, is to recognize that we are NOT the voices that we hear; we hear them only as if we had popped a cd in and listened to a recorded series of old, outdated messages.

Our inner ear is simply playing back some pre-recorded junk messages from long ago that are not who we are today. Can you guess what to do to create your own, empowering default program?

Immediately begin repeating the new messages to your mind today, with stronger emotions than the ones used for negative creating and soon, you will be intentionally and consciously overwriting all of those outdated messages currently living on your own default player.

Learning this life skill will not only improve your own life, but also the lives of everyone who sees you, from this generation forward to many, many more.

Hello W P B thanks so much for this comment; yeah I spent decades in that dark self limiting place, so much suffering for nothing really, and yup, about the same time frame too, I was born in 61 lol.
Now, I no longer suffer, i chose thoughts that create empowering feelings and that manifests as much happier results on a daily basis for me, and I hope for you too my friend 🙂
I wish you everything wonderful you can imagine W P B

Thanks for being you dear

Bless you for this post when I was younger I honestly thought I was the only one who had voices like that in their head I kind of realize now that as I've gotten older that no I'm not there are many many of us me I have the added downside I'll literally having other personalities in my head as well completely separate and not myself I may be the primary but I'm not the only and the reason I say that is because there's more than one voice we are aware of each other and we actually conversate but also there's times where I'm not me and it's one of them that is talking and dealing with the world it can really suck having multiple personalities sometimes though it can be a blessing though I will admit that is very rare unfortunately because of my multiple personalities and them occasionally fighting I also have seizures where maintaining and my dog and I are looking for better ways to treat my seizures everyday but the voices and one's head are always a pain in the butt more often than not especially when it's pre-recorded messages from past abuse among other things breakups and so on at least we are not alone in our individual fights and I encourage anyone and everyone who knows someone who has those pre-recorded not enough messages to do everything in their power to keep the other person going and to help them in their fight especially during those times where they think they're alone and not enough because those times are the worst and the hardest and from experience the easiest to slip into the desire plans and attempted actions of suicide so don't be afraid to help those in need whether you know them or not offer the hand of peace and friendship and not helping hand even if rejected in the moment will still reach that person on some level to where they may begin to think maybe I am enough because this person who doesn't even know me wouldn't have tried to help me if I didn't matter keep your heads up and keep going strong life is good even in the bad times it is always a good day just some days are better than others

I love that phrase, every days a good day, just some are better than others because it reminds me that whether those yappy lil fekkers in my head are loud or quiet, the part of me that is aware of them only being pre-recorded voice messages, can hear them and choose a different station to listen to lol.

No matter what the programmed messages are, "I" choose what I believe about me and sisters, I have decided that I am a pretty cool human.

I am simply me, and I Love who I Am...
and I love who you are as well my dear, thanks for being you Kylie

Namaste to you too and thank you very very much you're welcome for the comment honestly I got that from my mom she's been helpful throughout quite a bit of my transition and it's always nice meeting people I may not be the most digitally social individual but I try I'm more prefer the face-to-face kind of interaction but that's me or over the phone at worst I'm still learning how to be social digitally and actually work in time into my day to say hi on a regular basis it's a good meeting you and I'm glad I helped now go help others because everyone needs a little light in their life even if it's just a star in the middle of the night sky
